Sandoz launches Letrozole, the generic version of Novartis’ Femara®

Sandoz Ltd. today announced the UK launch of Sandoz Letrozole, the generic version of Novartis’ Femara®, a drug used in the treatment of breast cancer.

According to IMS, UK branded sales of Letrozole amounted to GBP 39.4 million in 2010.

“This launch reflects our commitment to increasing patient access to affordable and high-quality medicines such as oncology medicines” said Pascal Brenneisen, Country Manager of Sandoz UK. “It is also an example of how Sandoz UK is helping to provide cost-savings to the NHS.”

Sandoz Letrozole will now be available from most major pharmaceutical wholesalers in the UK.
