Holzkirchen, Germany, September 26, 2014 – For the fourth consecutive year, Sandoz held the global [email protected] leadership program for top women associates. Eighteen women, representing all Sandoz regions and functions, participated in the three-day event, sponsored by Sandoz Global Head, Richard Francis.
“We are focused on achieving and maintaining a strong gender balance at all levels, in every area of our business, because we believe diversity is good for business and inclusion is good for our people,” said Lisa Richert, Sandoz Chair of the Global Diversity & Inclusion Council and participant of the first [email protected]
Despite significant advances in educational attainment, women remain underrepresented in corporate leadership roles in most industries.
[email protected] was created in 2011 to strengthen the internal pipeline of top female talent and help participants leverage their leadership abilities.
As we got into the program, I could tell that many of us felt a bit uncomfortable with the idea that because we are women and due to some perception of being disadvantaged, we need a special program. But we quickly realized that it’s not about that, it’s about talent. Regardless of gender, it’s about maximizing potential and enabling all people to be their best,” Michelle Dettman, Head, HR TechOps & Quality (BP&OI) and [email protected] 2014 participant.
The program content is meant to create intimacy and help participants reflect on who they are as leaders as well as define their aspirations. The goal is that participants leave the event with confidence and a network of peers across all business areas and many countries.
At Sandoz, we have made good progress in increasing female representation at senior levels, but there is more work to be done to create a more equal gender balance,” said Richert. “It is important we offer an environment which values all associates and their differences, and provides opportunities for everyone to contribute to our business goals. By leveraging our natural diversity, we gain better market and customer insights and improve our ability to meet the needs of patients and other stakeholders.
