Sandoz and Novartis support Croatian earthquake victims through emergency relief donations
In support of the Croatian people living in the area most hit by a recent series of devastating earthquakes with up to 6.4 magnitudes, Sandoz and Novartis today announced disaster relief in support of the Croatian cities most struck by the events.
“Damages in the surrounding area of the Croatian towns of Petrinja, Sisak, Pokupsko and Glina are vast and many towns are under ruins. The biggest hospital in the region located in Sisak is working with minimal capacity and almost all of the patients have been transferred to Zagreb hospitals. Sandoz would like to support the Croatian people through this devastating time and we hope that our donations will contribute to a quick recovery of the region”, said Igor Haralovic, Country President of Novartis and Head of Sandoz in Croatia.
Sandoz and Novartis will help people in the affected area through a monetary disaster relief donation to the Croatian Red Cross. The Red Cross has taken immediate support measures and the donations will support the most needed on-ground support activities. In addition, Sandoz will also donate to the Sisak hospital to purchase much needed medical equipment such as equipment to monitor vital functions of hospitalized patients.
Sandoz and Novartis Croatia are thankful for the safety of our associates who live and work in Croatia, and grateful for their role in helping to ensure this donation for others who were less fortunate. We also hope that our donations will inspire others to support this important relief effort.
