Steffen is the Sandoz Chief Communications Officer and a member of the company’s Executive Committee. In this role he is responsible for developing and delivering the Sandoz global communications strategy. He facilitates the company’s communications with Sandoz leaders and associates and ensures that the organization is engaging with a broad range of external groups including media, patient organizations, associations and international institutions.
With a strong foundation in journalism, Steffen has a keen interest in pioneering new trends at the intersection of technology and communications. He has championed globally recognized engagement programs in the areas of health education, sustainable agriculture and environmental protection, including a worldwide public private partnership with the United Nations Environmental Program, a global youth agriculture summit, and the Sandoz Healthcare Access Challenge.

Representing Sandoz as a global market leader in its industry, our role in Corporate Affairs is to help connect the company with its stakeholders and drive an engaged and fruitful dialogue to build stronger partnerships to advance access to affordable medicines.
Steffen studied economics and graduated from the University of Cologne while working as a journalist for various print and audiovisual media. Prior to joining Sandoz, Steffen held positions of increasing responsibility at Bayer, including Regional Director of Communications Asia Pacific and Head of International Communications and Litigation Communications at Bayer AG. He also served as an executive committee member of Bayer CropScience, leading the global business communications and public affairs function of this global market leader in crop protection, seeds and agricultural biotechnology. He is a father of three daughters, and enjoys snowboarding, gardening and cooking in his free time.
